Khibla Gerzmava,
soprano, was born the 6th of January 1970 in Pitsunda
(Abkhazia). She graduated from the Moscow Conservatoire in 1994
where her teacher was professor Irina Maslennikova and completed
her post-graduate course at the Conservatoire in 1996. Since
1995 she has been a soloist of the Stanislavsky and
Nemirovich-Danchenko Academic Music Theater and has become one
of the stars of the company.
Ms. Gerzmava is the prize-winner of
the international competition “Voci Verdiane” in Italy, 1993,
the Rimsky-Korsakov International Competition in St. Petersburg,
1994 and she is the winner of the most prestigious competition
the Grand Prix of the Tchaikovsky International Competition in
Moscow, 1994. Her guest performances include appearing as
Parasha in Mavra at the Theatre des Champs Elysees in
Paris and as Swan in The Tale of Tsar Saltan at Teatro
Comunale in Florence, Italy. Ms. Gerzmava sings the major parts
in all the most famous operas both at the Stanislavsky and
Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theater and internationally.
