Anita Chen
was born in New Jersey in July 1991. At the age of 4 she began her
piano studies with her mother Kuei-Ying Chen, and at five she
started to learn violin as well. Anita entered The Juilliard School
of Music N.Y., Pre-College Division at the age of seven, as a piano
major student of Dr. Antonio Fermin. Anita has won prizes in several
major piano competitions including three first prizes for the
American Music Teacher Association from 1997 to 1998, and performed
in Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. She also won first place in
the violin competitions sponsored by NJMTA at 7 years old.
Anita gave her first piano and violin concert at eight years old in
the Rutgers Nicholas Music Center. At age ten, she passed the violin
entrance audition for Juilliard while studying with Hyo Kang and
later with Stephen Clapp at Juilliard. At age 11, she performed both
piano and violin at eight concerts with the St. Luke’s Chamber
Orchestra in the Isaac Stern Carnegie Hall. She is currently a piano
student of Oxana Yablonskaya at Juilliard majoring in piano while
she continues studying violin with Albert Markov at the Manhattan
School of Music N.Y. |
